Anthony Hall and the Irish Shot Put Team Look to Reclaim Their Throne Over the Metro League
Updated: Mar 28, 2023
SEATTLE- O'Dea's 6'0, 265-pound All-Metro defensive lineman, Anthony Hall, looks to continue his dominance from the gridiron to the shot put pit and lead O'Dea to their first Metro championship since 2016.
Hall looks to not only lead O’Dea to their first Metro title but put himself high on the podium as well after throwing a 42-footer in the Irish’s first match of the year and a 44-footer before it was ruled a scratch. That 42-footer puts him amongst the top 3 in the 3A Metro division.
“I’m hoping to win Metro this year. Last year we as a group and I came up a little short and we’re all looking to make a statement,” says Hall.
Hall has only thrown the shot put for two years now and credits a lot of his success thus far to the coaching.
“Coach Carter has helped me more than anyone and me coming in as a junior having never thrown a shot put before, it was great having someone who competed at a high level and someone who knows how to coach high school guys because he’s been in our shoes and can relate to us.”
With Hall viewing football as his primary sport, there comes a point where all the success in shot put makes someone look at it as an opportunity at the next level.
“I haven’t put much thought into it at this point. Right now I’m looking to figure out where I want to play football first and once I do that, if the shot put opportunity presents itself I will definitely look into it,” says Hall.
The star defensive lineman mentioned Linfield and Redlands as the schools recruiting him the hardest right now and plans to visit Redlands on April 13th.
The Irish look to follow in Hall’s leadership and ability in hopes of winning a shot put Metro championship.
Senior teammate Chris St. Louis stated, “He and I have grown closer and closer the past year or so, and seeing his development for our shot put team and the leadership he brings has pushed us all to be better and we hope that all pays off at the end.”
With a supporting cast of Jason Brown, Amen Ephrem, and Christ St. Louis who are all 40+ foot throwers, the Irish are in good hands and look to fulfill the goal they set out on.
