Next Year.
O’Dea sports have had a difficult year. From nearly winning it in basketball and lacrosse placing 3rd in baseball, and our main strength football not doing nearly as good as they anticipated. I feel as if we expect to bring home multiple state titles every year for major sports and this is how it has been for as long as I can remember. In the offseason for all these sports, measures have been taken so that O’Dea can bounce back next school year. One team that has a lot of potential is lacrosse. While they sadly ended up placing second in the state championship, they still demonstrated how much of a lethal force they are against the playing field. With senior stars Wade Boyd and Ethan Linsay they easily got into the state championship. With the help of strong coaching staff and a leading scorer Linsay paved the way for the rest of the team to do their best as well. While the season turnout isn't at all what they had planned it still gave some of the junior’s the opportunity to show what they have on the field. Another sport that was put on display this year was baseball. With a season start of 0-4 it really didn’t look good however with their pitchers Brady Foster and Patrick Galvin they were able to turn the season around and make it into the semifinals against Lake Washington High School. With a disappointing loss against lake Washington, they were able to win their next game and place 3rd in the championship. Earlier in the year basketball faced a tougher season than usual. With the Irish’s only real competition being Garfield, they still did have a great season with juniors and seniors leading the team's way. With a finishing record of 21-9 they could’ve wished for just a little bit more to get that state title. With an out of the ordinary year for O’Dea sports every sport is looking to bounce back next school year and take back our titles.
