Antone Araujo and the Fighting Irish win big 54-10 against Blanchet

Updated: Sep 19, 2022

SEATTLE-The Fighting Irish won big on their home field at West Seattle Stadium. The Fighting Irish came out strong in the first half being up 40-0 at halftime.

Most of the points in the first half were scored by junior running back Jason Brown.

Junior safety/quarterback Antone Araujo and his teammates were dialed in for the game.

“I approach every team like they are the best team we are going to play. On the football field you never know what might happen.”

The team knew they wanted to start strong and showed that from the kickoff.

Araujo noted, “Teams beat teams when you least expect it, so we wanted to go out there fast and seal the deal before they got any hope. I made sure about information by watching a lot of film and imagining where I would be on the field when I was guarding on defense or trying to score on offense.”

The Irish defense was solid this game with Araujo playing on both sides of the ball. In addition, sophomore safety Rasaan Thomas helped the defense by picking off the Bears quarterback.

The Irish didn’t score much in the second half but the defense held their lead.

After the second game of the Irish’s season Araujo has high hopes on his team’s success this season.

“I feel like if we can put the pieces together, we are a state champion team.”
