Beckett Swanson's Standout Performance Pushes O'Dea Fighting Irish Past Bishop Blanchet Bears 54-10
SEATTLE - Last Friday, the O'Dea Fighting Irish faced the Bishop Blanchet Bears at West Seattle Stadium as the Fighting Irish demolished the Bears with a final score of 54-10. Some top performances in the game included senior fullback Beckett Swanson, senior lineman Dylan Cohen, and junior running back Jason Brown.
Swanson mentioned the teams mindset going into the game was "to not act like it was a walk in the park."
The Irish meant business. The offense racked up 19 points in a dominating first quarter and the defense giving the Bears no chances to get the ball across the goal line. This theme carried out the rest of the game giving very few chances for the Bears to come into scoring range.
Later in the third quarter Swanson had a break out 60 yard carry getting quarterback Luke Danna into scoring position to extend the lead even further with a quarterback sneak into the endzone.
"I felt disappointed in not sealing the touchdown but I am happy I set up my team to score," Swanson said.
Cohen helped tremendously in getting his backfield into positions to make plays. Making about 10 pancake blocks throughout the game he set up his backfield for excellence.
The Bears fought back in the 2nd quarter with a 3 yard touchdown run into the end zone, but they could not prevail the rest of the 2nd half. Handing the Irish a 54-10 victory over the Bears.
