Fekadu Wakeman and his come up on soccer
SEATTLE- Fekadu Wakeman is a forward for the O’Dea soccer team and has been playing since he was young.
Fekadu grew up playing soccer and easily fell in love with the sport at the young age of 10. “My parents heavily got me into it especially my dad because we always would go see soccer games”.
Wakeman as a kid also loved watching soccer matches both at the stadium and from home. Some of his favorite players he watched growing up were, Lionel Messi, Leo Gonzalez and many more.
Since Fekadu has been in high school, he said it’s a big change from the smaller leagues he played in.
The high school league is way more physical and aggressive than before. Although these were slight problems, he said he easily adjusted himself by working hard every day doing different drills.
“Every day I was trying to touch a soccer ball as much as I could”. Fekadu wanted to get better and knew being lazy was not an option.
Wakeman also wasn’t just trying to help himself; he was always trying to help his teammates get better too.
“With out a team you have nothing”, Wakeman says. He is most definitely a team player and after this season he doesn’t want to stop there.
Wakeman will continue to play soccer his senior year and has hopes of taking it somewhere after high school D2 or D3.
But overall Fekadu Wakeman is someone who never tends to give up and is a trusting, reliable, teammate who cares much about his team and future.
