Fighting Irish Baseball Team Looking For Redemption

SEATTLE- Spring sports are finally back, and the fighting Irish baseball team are back and ready to challenge this year. After last year’s unfortunate defeat to Ballard in the playoffs, the Fighting Irish baseball team look to improve on last year’s performance.


Last season the Irish had a 14-7 overall record with a .70-win percentage. The Irish had a runs scored average (RS) of 4.3 and a runs allowed average (RA) of 2.6.


Lots of key returners are coming back for another season like:

· Brady Foster (Pitcher)

· Patrick Galvin (Pitcher)

· Luke Klooster (Catcher)

· Isaiah Nolan (Shortstop/2nd Base)

· JJ Abner (2nd Base)

· Vaughan Lowe (2nd Base/Short Stop)

· Miguel Prado (3rd Base)

· Andrew Strathy (1st Base/Pitcher)

· Jeff Woods (1st Base/Pitcher)

· Davis Downer (Right Field)

· Tyler Bugbee (Left Field)

· Dominic Skally (Left Field)


With return of these big-time player, the team will for sure be have a really successful season.


The Irish have brought in many players from the junior varsity team from last year to add in more depth in the team like junior center fielder Austin Endersen.


After the end of last season Endresen has been working every day whether it be at O’Dea or on his own to get better and be in shape for the new season.


“I’ve worked out a lot this year and have gotten a lot stronger and have been doing stuff every day to get better,” Endresen said.


This season is a big year for the team after there early exit in the playoffs last season, but with the talent they have it will be impossible for this star-studded team to get knocked out early.


“This is a big year for our team as we got knocked out early last year. We have a good group with a lot of talent and are looking to make a run-in state.”


With head coach Mike Doyle heading into his 15th season with the Irish he will be hoping to replicate his wonders from past seasons.


Kicking off the season the fighting Irish will be facing Eastlake High School away on March 16 at 6:00 pm.


With rivals West Seattle winning the metro league last year the Irish will hope to fight and get to the top, and win there first metro title since 2019.
