Have A Little Faith, Young Luke
Dear Younger Luke,
You may be frustrated or confused on why Dad is moving you, parker, and Harrison out of yet another house.
You may be thinking about how your excited to live your childhood in Snoqualmie Ridge, and how that you’re only in 2nd grade but you have moved from school to school all the time.
What you don’t realize is that your brother Parker is starting to go down the wrong path. Your older brother Harrison is leaving for college soon. So it’ll just be Dad, you and parker holding it down.
What you need to realize is that this move will be one of the best decisions that will happen in your life.
You know the lady that Dad is dating? Valerie?
She’s our stepmom now that is the rock of our family. She is the key to reach all your goals in life.
I know that the kids she has maybe aren’t the nicest, but eventually you guys will become so close, you couldn’t even tell you’re not related.
I know, I know, you’re going to be at another school, having to meet new friends, and you hate the idea of it.
But you tell Dad on the one your last days at Cascade View, before he drops you off, “I'm excited to move Dad,”
But what he doesn’t realize is that you hate the idea. You think it’s selfish to move when we just got settled in. And you say it to relieve stress on him.
You have to remember that this is a big deal for Dad. Not only does he have to move but he’s making a big commitment to his future wife, but also wants a better life for his children.
When you move to Burien you will began to find that you have made your best friends for life on your first day of school, and you’ll never look back.
Parker? He’s getting his shit together while attending O’Dea High school.
You don’t know it yet, but this will be the high school that changes your life, but tests you at the same time.
It won’t be easy. It never has. Mom dying and Dad being stressed out because he’s trying to figure out how to raise 3 kids on his own. Not the easiest job in the world, considering all you, Harrison, and parker do is fight and mess around.
It’s never been easy, and it never will.
Life is going to get way more difficult as you go through your teen years.
But your strong and you always have been.
Despite the fits or making life hard for harry, parker and Dad, you are the light of the family and everything you do will impact everybody else greatly.
When mom died you were the ball of joy that everyone looked for.
That is why I am telling to not resist the move.
I know it may be scary or whatever but it will truly change your life for the better.
As much as you hate change and trying new things, this is the make or break decision, and you just have to have faith.
