Hitch and his Family

SEATTLE – Even though O’Dea lacrosse alumni Zane Crispin Hitch graduated in 2022, he never left the brotherhood. The impact he had on O’Dea an the lacrosse team is something that will never be forgotten. He was, and still is, an amazing teammates and player who made everyone around him better.

Hitch guided the O’Dea defense his senior season as a Long Stick Midfielder (LSM) and led the team in groundballs and caused turnovers. He also earned first team all-metro both his senior and junior seasons.

On top of his individual accomplishments, he also was a key contributor on the lacrosse team all four years at O’Dea. Hitch won a total of three state championships, all of which he got playing time in.

After graduating high school, Hitch decided to play Division 1 lacrosse at Detroit Mercy University.

Accomplishments are only a part of why Hitch plays sports. Lacrosse plays a major role in his life with friends, college, and lifestyle choices.

“Lacrosse has brought me some of my best friends. I don’t think if I played lacrosse I would be as connected to some people as I am now,” Hitch shared on what lacrosse has brought him.

Lacrosse has not only brought Hitch meaningful relationships with other teammates and individuals, but it also brought him an opportunity to play Division 1 sports. Only 3.1% of lacrosse athletes have this opportunity.

“The opportunity to play at Detroit Mercy was second to none. I love it here whether it be the coaches, compete level, or just hanging around with my teammates,” Hitch shared.

The opportunity to play lacrosse at the Division 1 level was great for him, but he shared a story during the 2021 lacrosse season that he said has been his best memory to date.

“During the 2021 season we did not have an actual season. We all had eschool and I had to carpool from Bainbridge Island to Genesee Park but it was the best memory I have from high school lacrosse. The five of us had so much fun driving to and from those practices,” Hitch shared.

Lacrosse has been an essential part in Hitch’s life. It has brought him so much fortune and he is excited to see where it takes him for the next three years as he finished up his college career.
