Hitting the Slopes with Luke Vecchiet

Luke Vecchiet is what you would call an expert on the slopes. Making his way from childhood to now, he is still dominating at what hes best. Vecchiet is a beast on the mountain shredding down like a bull in a China shop.

Growing up him and his family would go on weekend trips to there second home in Mt. Hood, Oregon. This was a place he could let loose and show his potential in what he absolutely loves to do. Vecchiet spent most of his time in the Mountain side, “I got into skiing because my parents brought me to the mountain every weekend in the winter.”

Through the years of growing up skiing and just doing it for fun he got so good he didn’t really know how to keep himself entertained while doing so. That’s when his parents introduced him to ski racing, “My parents introduced me to ski racing so I wouldn’t get bored of it and waste my talents of skiing.”

Ski racing is what he dominates in now. Showing off his high speeds and quick turns to others watching. He is one of the top skiers in Washington and plans to keep it that way. Ever since he was a young kid he would dominate on the field and won about every race. To this day he has a total of about 40 ski race wins and very minimal loses.

He spends most of his free time on the mountains. Keeping him busy while other people are sitting inside not trying to compete with the cold. He skis in many different places around Washington and Oregon, but his favorite mountain is Crystal Mountain located in Pierce County, Washington. This favorite mountain of his has many upsides such as, “great terrain for challenging myself, as well as good snow fall and cliffs for jumps and tricks.”

While his high school does not have a ski team or any extracurricular activity with skiing his plans to ski in the future still is undecided, “I plan on skiing whenever and wherever I can.” Vecchiet hopes to receive an offer to ski race and would love to keep this childhood dream alive.
