BELLEVUE, Wash. - Despite a 5-run deficit in the second inning, the O'Dea Irish almost came all the way back to win, but they eventually fell 8-7 to the Seattle Prep Panthers on Wednesday at Bannerwood Park. The Irish managed six runs in the near comeback. Junior Dominic Skally, senior Isaiah Nolan, junior Jed Stange, and junior Davis Downer each picked up RBIs in the loss. The Irish fell behind early in the loss with the Panthers scoring on a groundout by Will Cahill in the first inning, a single by Reeve Boyd in the second inning, and a groundout by Alex Howard in the second inning. With that being said, O'Dea stormed back by scoring four runs in the fourth inning. Nolan and Stange each drove in runs during the inning. Seattle Prep scored three runs in the second inning. Boyd and Howard each had RBIs in the frame. George Hurley led things off on the hill for the Panthers. The righty allowed five hits and four runs over three and a third innings, striking out four. Sophomore Quincey Brown started the game for the Irish. Brown allowed seven hits and eight runs over two and two-thirds innings, striking out four. Junior Basil Hendrix came in relief and threw three and a third innings in relief out of the bullpen, only giving up one hit.

"It just wasn't our night pitching-wise, we have to learn from our mistakes and go back to what we know we can do," senior pitcher Jeffrey Woods said. The Irish scattered nine hits in the game. Downer, Nolan, and sophomore Davon Abaga all picked up multiple hits for the Irish. Downer led the Irish with three hits in three at bats. Overall, Boyd was the leading batter for the Panthers, by going 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Seattle Prep Varsity Panthers in hits.

The Irish will take on the Lincoln Lynx, on Monday, April 3rd.
