Jack Suk and the Irish Plan on Letting Their Feet do the Talking
SEATTLE- Jack Suk, O’Dea’s 5’8 and 145 pound outside back, and the Irish look to revenge the heartbreaking, extra-time loss to Lakeside in the semifinals of last year’s state tournament.
The Irish led by head coach, Matt Gregory, return a fair amount of talent and leadership from a team last year that was only 1 game away from the state championship. With the returning talent of seniors Jack Suk, Dylan Weinstein, and Ben Sollom the Irish look to once again make a deep run in state. Except for this time, go all the way.
Suk stated, “I feel extremely confident that we can do better than last year. We had a historic season, but I have my sights set on a winning state.”
Suk was also named a captain and stated, “Everybody on the team has so much talent and is all willing to work for the team. I think Greg Wheeler and Jack Huson will have to step into some big roles, but I know they’ll have no problem making it happen”, when talking about the returning talent.
In this past offseason, Suk has become extremely dedicated with the taste of defeat never entirely leaving his mouth. Playing with the soccer club, Crossfire, Suk expects to show what he has worked so hard for.
Suk stated, “This past off-season I have been playing for my club team and feel like I have improved my dribbling and shooting the most. I look forward to showcasing it this year.”
With all the off-season work Suk put in, goals are bound to come from that and Suk has set plenty.
“My individual goal is to be the best captain I can be for the guys and to also make 1st team All-Metro. For the team, I think we all only have one goal, to win state”, says Suk.
With this being Suk’s last season as an organized soccer player, Suk stated, “I am planning on enjoying the summer by doing once-in-a-lifetime experiences that I won’t be able to do later in my life. After summer I plan on going to college.”
