Lacrosse is more than a game, and for Dylan Pignotti, Lacrosse is like a second nature.
For many people, sports are a fun way to get active and have the ability to be apart of a team. For some, it means a lot more than just being active and having fun. Junior Lacrosse player, Dylan Pignotti, has been taught many life skills through playing lacrosse for nearly his entire life.
"Lacrosse has helped me build friendships and relationships that will last a lifetime, as well as, teaching me how to work well with others and communicating well with them," stated Pignotti.
Every summer, Pignotti travels with his select travel lacrosse team across the country to play some of the best competition in the country. Through this he gets to perform against the best, which ultimately makes him better and as well as his teammates. " The high-intensity and high-action play is what I love the most," said Pignotti "the ability to out there and compete with some of the best while also playing with your brothers is what makes up the love I have for the sport."
On the field, Pignotti is an attacker, which means he's putting in work and scoring goals every game. "In Lacrosse, every position has a job to do, and if everyone does their job, the team can come together nicely," commented Pignotti.
Usually the attacker on the team gets the ball and pushes it down the field while trying to make the defenders miss. Once they successfully do that, they have the option of either passing to another teammate or attempt to score. Also to add, they are free to move anywhere without restrictions of charging rules, which apply to other positions.
"If I had to play college lacrosse anywhere in the country, it would have to be Maryland. They are the Alabama of Lacrosse and that would be amazing to be able to play there," said Pignotti.
Pignotti's Head Coach, Will Snider, played his collegiate years at Maryland and even won a National Championship during that time too, so certainly a lot of that inspiration to go to Maryland come's from his coach as well.
