O’Da Fighting Irish wins big in rivalry match against the Seattle Prep Panthers 72-56
SEATTLE- The Odea Fighting Irish took on the Seattle prep panthers at O’Dea’s home court on a Tuesday night in a rowdy game.
With O’Dea’s intensity on both sides of the ball the Fighting Irish held the energy throughout the gym that led them to come out with the win.
The Panthers and the Irish were neck and neck and were trading leads throughout the first half of the game.
The go to player on the court for the Panthers were Christian King and he was the one putting them up in the lead, as he finished with a game high 22 points. Although within a few minutes left in the second quarter the Irish’s defense held prep from taking the lead going into the halftime.
The three pointers were falling for the Irish as the freshman wing Brian Webster got it started with knocking down a couple of threes is the second quarter starting it off from behind the arc for the team.
Junior guards Noel Davis and BJ Shannon both hit a pair of threes heading into the end of the second quarter. To add on the both of them kept the energy for the half with also doing it on the defense of end with forcing the panthers to two turnovers.
To mention Davis had two buzzer beaters in the half with one right before halftime putting the Irish up 11 at halftime.
The Irish came out with a lack of energy out the halftime starting the third quarter letting the panthers get close, cutting the lead to within ten.
Towards the end of the third the Irish stayed solid in the defense of end allowing them to go up fifteen in the start of the fourth quarter with Mason Williams getting hot and finishing with the team high 17 points.
At that point the Irish were composed on both sides of the ball and kept their lead and the panthers never got back within 10 points.
