The Irish started the year 1-4 and have struggled to get the offense going.
They started the year with a loss to the number 1 team in the state Eastlake. It was a tough pitching battle and the Irish lost 3-1.
Brady Foster started off on the bump going 3 innings with 2 walks and 4 strikeouts. Then Junior southpaw Basil Hendrix went 2 innings giving up 2 runs and 3 hits and 1 walk with 1 K. Patrick Galvin closed the game giving up 1 unearned run with 2ks.
Jordan Hollway, Tyler Bugbee, and Isaiah Nolan each collected one for the Irish.
Dylan Skolfield, a Washington state commit, started on the mound for Eastlake. He went 5 innings giving up 3 hits and 1 run. B Johnson closed the game for the wolves and went 1.2 innings and had 4ks.
Borup lead Eastlake in hits with a double and a single and he scored a run.
Through the first week, the leaders in batting average are Luke Klooster and Jed Strange with .500 averages. Andrew Strathy is not far behind with a .455.
Tyler Bugbee and Jed Strange lead the team in hits with 6. They are also both tied with 2 doubles.
One of the biggest standouts this year throwing 6 innings and giving up 0 runs is Jeffrey Woods. He is a senior and is going to play Juco baseball at Yakima Valley.
Patrick Galvin is another pitcher who has a 2.42 era and has pitched in 3 games and has thrown 8.2 innings.
“We have some things to work on and need to ride this momentum from our last game into next week,” Jed Strange.
O’Dea won their first game against Stanwood 6-0 and was the first time the offense was rolling and so was the pitching giving up no runs for the first time.
