O'Dea legend Pierre LeDorze gives insight on his impact from the dugout rather than the field

SEATTLE- Instead of hitting home runs, O'Dea alum, Pierre LeDorze ('14) takes his talents to the coaching field to teach the next generation. During his days at O'Dea, he excelled in both baseball and football and was a starter in both sports by his sophomore year.
By his senior year though, his main focus was baseball, and he finished a state champion.
After O'Dea, LeDorze attended Cornell University and played baseball all 4 years there, then he came back to Seattle after finishing school.
While at Cornell, in his junior year, LeDorze appeared in 32 games and had a batting average of .324, while also racking up 2 home runs and 16 RBIs (Runs Batted In).
Now in his coaching era, he mainly helps the outfielders on hitting and playing defense, as well as, being the first base coach.
"This year's team is special because they fight despite the obstacles that come in front of them, but we must improve our mental toughness though," said LeDorze.
The head coach of the baseball team, Mike Doyle, was also LeDorze's head coach all 4 years of high school, and even for the state championship run.
"Having played for Coach Doyle and now coaching under him is an interesting experience," commented LeDorze.
"I've always wondered what went on during coach's meetings and during tryouts. Having experienced that, it's a much tougher situation than most athletes realize," added LeDorze.
Not only does he coach baseball, but also football. While at O'Dea, LeDorze created a legacy for himself during his 3 years as the starting quarterback on some very talented teams. A notable player he played with was Myles Gaskin.
You can see why head football coach, Monte Kohler, brought him onto the staff to take over the most important position on the field.
In the future, LeDorze plans to hopefully have a permanent role as a faculty member within O'Dea High School.
