O’Dea’s Very Own Mason Williams Makes Big Strides to Play at the Next Level
Updated: Oct 26, 2022
Mason Williams, O’Dea’s 6-foot 5 guard is the truth. He is a very skilled guard with a great 3 point shot.
Williams averaged 13.6 points per game in his junior season. He shot 36% from behind the arc, 48% from inside and shot 84% from the free throw line.
Williams work in the offseason is what separates him from everyone else. Between 6 am workouts in the summer to staying in the gym late at night, Williams has the work ethic to be a great player.
His recruitment has fueled this fire in him.
“When I get passed up on, I take it personal in a way and work to get that offer or to be better than that.”
Williams doesn’t let his opportunities or publicity get in the way of his goal, and he always keeps his head down and just keeps working.
His first offer came during his junior season from The University of Portland, and it just continued from there.
“I honestly couldn’t believe it, so it took a minute to process, but I was excited and wanted more.”
Williams has a big season coming up, coming off of a 4-point loss last year to Eastside Catholic in the state playoffs which left a bad taste in the Irish’s mouth for this season.
The team has big goals for this season ultimately wanting a state title. But they have a long road ahead of them and Williams is ready to lead the charge into the season.
Williams recently picked a top three schools he is interested in consisting of Montana, Eastern Washington, and Washington State.
“I chose my top three based on what school really loved me and needed me at their school because I want a chance to play right away,” said Williams.
Whatever college ends up securing Williams will be ecstatic about getting a college ready, high IQ point guard with a lethal three-point shot.
“I’m going to commit before the basketball season tryouts.”
Mason Williams’ timeline is short, and he is ready to get to work and go ahead in his last High school basketball season with the O’Dea Fighting Irish
