O'Dea Soccer Falls to Seattle Prep
SEATTLE – On April 3rd the O’Dea Fighting Irish soccer team took a 2-1 loss to Seattle Prep at Magnuson Park. The Irish
The Irish started off strong with a goal from junior centerback Carter Gribble, assisted by senior center midfielder Dylan Weinstein. It would not be enough though as the Panthers give them little scoring opportunity the rest of the game.
An unlucky strike of the ball by an O’Dea defender lead to an “own goal” which turned the momentum of the game to the Panthers. The own goal seemed to crush the Irish’s confidence for the rest of the game and it was seen in mistakes like arrant passes and missed shots that would normally be easy for the Irish.
“We really need to focus on ourselves the next couple of weeks and use spring break as a mental reset,” junior center midfielder Jack Huson mentioned on what the team needs to do to turn their season around.
A second goal for Seattle Prep came after an unlucky penalty inside of the box. This led to a penalty kick which got past the O’Dea goalkeeper, increasing the Panthers lead to 2-1 which they will hold strong the rest of the game.
After a strong start, the Irish fell to the Panthers intensity and were overwhelmed with mistakes like penalties and an own goal. They hope to put together a more complete game on April 5th at 4:30 P.M. when they face Nathan Hale at Interbay stadium.
