O'Dea soccer's shot at success this season

After last years hart breaking ending to the season, the O’Dea soccer tea hopes and looks to rebound. Last year, the fighting Irish made a deep ,unexpected playoff unfortunity, it ended in a last minute goal in extra time to give lake side the lead seconds before penalty's. This surly gave the team a drive and motivation for this year. That being said, last years season was a huge success for the Irish. The team had a great second half to the season and showed how strong of a force they are.

This year, the team will look to have another spectacular season. They have brought back lots of key players such as senior captains Connor Lofty and Jack Suk as long as lots of great juniors that will look to have a bigger impact this season.

Last year, the reason he team had such success at the end of the season that there ultra aggressive high press defense suffocated teams in the playoffs. This year, the team will look to implement there tactic all season long and hopefully be able to dominate teams with it.

After the heartbreaking loss in the semifinals last year, the Irish will definitely not forget it and come out for vengeance.

“Last season’s defeat in the state semis was definitely a rough way to bow out, but the season as a whole was a huge success and I think a lot of positives can be taken from it,” said Jack Huson.

The team certainly learned a lot form there deep run last year and it surly gave them the confidence to do have a great year and do it again.

Lucky for the Irish, they will get to show all of metros there strength as there will face the team that sent them home last year, the Lakeside Lions. The Irish will surely come out motivated at ready to bring there A game against a very good lakeside team lead my one of the best goalkeepers in the state, Thiago Ausland.

The Irish did lose some key pieces that they had last year,

“Not having Saverio (de Simone) will Definitely hurt us this year… he was such a strong presence in the midfield that we will Definitely need to fill,” said Huson.

Lat season, he has a huge force in the midfield and will certainly be missed. that means that the new midfielders will have some big shoes to fill. That being said, the team has lots of great young midfields that will be ready to fill in. For example, Greg Wheeler and Jack Huson are two Junior midfielders that are ready to show what they got.

Hopefully this year the Irish will be able to make that final step and will the championship that they have been chasing for years now. There season will start against Inglemoor high school at pop Kenny field on March eleventh. Show out to the game to suport your brothers.
