O’Dea Takes Down 4A Powerhouse Issaquah In 15-3 Rout

Issaquah, Wash. – If there was ever a time to not look ahead in the schedule and focus on the current game, it would be this game against the Issaquah Eagles. The Irish had an intriguing trip to San Diego the following week to take on national powerhouses such as La Costa Canyon and Sierra Canyon, but they would have to lock in against 4A public state runner-up Issaquah first, and they sure did.

O’Dea jumped out to an early 4-0 lead in the first quarter and didn’t look back at all against the Eagles. Issaquah tried their best to keep it close by scoring a goal in the second quarter to get on the board to make it 7-1 going into the half, but after the break it was all Irish. O’Dea steamrolled through the second half, scoring eight goals and eventually leading to a 15-3 victory.

Senior Ethan Linsay led the scoring for the Irish, with a total of five goals throughout the entire game, with junior Cooper Gissing following up his stat line with four goals himself. Senior Wade Boyd, senior Andrew Koch, sophomore Finn Evans, sophomore Nathan Olmstead, junior Christian Winn, and junior Grayson Bromfield all were on the stat sheet as well with one goal each.

This blowout can’t go without mentioning the stout performance of senior goalie Eli Hinson. Hinson saved nine out of twelve shots on goal, posting a .750 save percentage.

“Eli has been huge for us this entire year, he’s come up big in games we need him, and moments we need him. I don’t know where we’d be without him in goal this year to be honest with you”, Koch said.

The Irish are set to take on La Costa Canyon and Sierra Canyon on their trip in San Diego this week.
