O’Dea track looks to set new records
The Irish start the season of strong with multiple top 20 finishers in O'Dea records.
One of the top performers who has been leading O'Dea track this year is Seku Sanders. Seku recently cracked the top 20 in the O'Dea all-time track leaderboard. Seku now sits at 17 with 52.51 in the 400 meters. He also has the 7th best time in the 800 meter in O'Dea history with 1.58.62. Seku is a junior and looks for young guys to move into big roles.
“The seniors last year made up most of the athletes who went on to State, and this year we have a lot of new and returning faces that have filled in the void and have given our team potential.” Seku Sanders said.
Another stand out this year is Sage Solopeck setting a top 20 record in the 200 meter with 23.31. Sage is a sophomore runner and a starting varsity corner.
Jason Brown, Colton Dawson, Ryan Phillips and Sage Solopeck had a solid relay this year in the 4x100.
Sean Ellison shines in the jumping events he recently cracked the top 200 in the long jump with 20 5.5. last year he has the 2nd place record.
Seku looks to improve even more on his times and make it to state. He also looks to see the team improve on there times and see the team do well.
