Patrick Galvin Jr Looks to Continue Dominance on the Mound and the Hardwood

SEATTLE- Star O’Dea pitcher, Patrick Galvin, has not only worked his way to a key player on the baseball team, but on the hardwood for hall of fame coach, Jason Kerr, as well.

Galvin has had one of the more unique stories to varsity. As a freshman he was cut from the freshman basketball team.

Galvin stated, “It sucked. I was embarrassed and disappointed because I expected myself to make it and knew I had the ability to make it”.

Even with Galvin’s success on the mound, he would try out again as a sophomore. Not only would Galvin make the team, but he would also excel. Galvin quickly became one of, if not the best player on the JV team and after a stellar season, would get called up to the varsity team.

“I was beyond excited when the coaches gave me the opportunity to get pulled up. I knew how hard I worked, and I knew that it would all eventually pay off”, says Galvin.

With Galvin being an elite level athlete in both baseball and football, he seems to be very set on his plans post high school.

Galvin went on to say, “Baseball has always been my main sport and my first love. Yes, I love basketball, but I hope to play college baseball at the next level”.

As for the recruiting process, Galvin’s is only picking up more and more by day.

Galvin stated, “Throughout last season and the summer select circuit, multiple colleges were in touch with me after the way I performed and I’m confident I’ve set myself up pretty well to be a college baseball player”.

Now, as a 6’5 forward for a Fighting Irish team that looks as good as any of Kerr’s recent teams, Galvin looks to continue his improvement and earn his way to becoming a key piece to the loaded roster.
