Sean Ellison Is Jumping Straight Into the 2023 Track Season.
SEATTLE Senior long jumper, Sean Ellison is foaming at the mouth to get back on the track this year. "I left a lot of unfinished business out there last year, and the fact we couldn't get ring still hurts me," said Ellison. Leading the jumpers this year, he expects to place high at every event.
"My goal is to break Odea's school record triple jump and bring home a banner," commented Ellison. This past year he maxed out at 44 feet and 3 inches, but he plans to get above at least 45 this year. Not only does he do the triple jump, but he participates in the long jump and the 100m.
In both of those respected events he pr'd at 20 feet in long jump and 12 seconds in the 100m.
Though, this year Sean was elected as one of the captains of the track team. "To my brothers on the team, I want to be a leader that they can look at and respect, as well as, see me equal to them," added Ellison, "I want to be able to teach and guide them so that when I am gone they are in good hands."
The first track meet is in about 2 weeks and the team is putting the work needed to go far. Last year the Irish's 4x4 team was a state contender and placed 3rd in the heat. As far as the jumping went, they were struck with lots of
injury's.
"What I am looking forward to most this season and working hard to win a state title, and as well as, seeing my teammates progress and help us get there," said Ellison.
Sean continues to progress accordingly to make sure he is ready by his first meet. He is a key returner from last years team, and will make a huge impact to this team this year.
