Sean Ellison’s O’Dea Track Career Jumps To A Close
SEATTLE – The 2023 O’Dea track season was deemed a successful one by many. As some individuals go off into districts today, May 17th, and hope to win big. Those individuals include seniors Tucker Ashcraft, Anthony Hall, Darien Maragh, Chris St. Louis, and especially Sean Ellison.
Ellison began his running career in middle school exploring his options. As he began his freshman year at O’Dea, he tried out freshman football like most students but in the back of his mind he wanted spring to come for track season.
Freshman year, Ellison began exploring his options in track even more and devoted his time and energy into the sport. The two events he fell in love with are long jump and triple jump; both he excels at.
Most students at O’Dea would classify Ellison as one of, or even the most, athletic guy in the school. This is mainly in direct correlation with his work ethic. Almost everyday after school in the fall and winter, he would be working out with O’Dea strength and conditioning coach Paxton Paynter.
The combination of his athletic ability and work ethic makes for an insane track and field athlete where explosiveness and strength come hand in hand.
Now in his senior year, Ellison has qualified for the district meet and has no intention of slowing down. His jumps speak for themselves with a 20’11” in long jump and a 44’0” triple jump.
He leads the Irish in both events but will only be competing in the long jump at the district meet.
Post O’Dea, Ellison has committed to continue his track and field career at Seattle University where he will study business. It will be exciting to see what else he will do as he competes at the Division 1 level.
