The Fighting Irish Baseball Team Are Looking Forward On A Huge Postseason

SEATTLE- The fighting Irish baseball team are on a good run at the moment with the team qualifying for the state tournament.

Starting off the season the Irish weren’t at there best with a 0-4 start to the season.

But since then, they have picked up their performances and have been winning in great fashion against some of the best metro schools.

They ended the regular season with a 10-7 record and ended the season 4th in metros.

In their last game they defeated Bishop Blanchet 2-1 in a must win game to qualify for state. They both played each other twice, prior to their state qualifying game, where the fighting Irish won the first game and Blanchet won the second, and there was a lot of bad blood coming into the game.

The big loss for the season was that the Irish lost star senior pitcher Brady Foster due to injury and has missed the majority of season. However junior pitcher Basil Hendrix’s has emerged and has played exceptionally well and has filled foster’s spot.

The Irish is back in the state playoffs and haven’t been there since 2019 and will be hoping to put in a good run-in state. The competition will get more and more difficult, but the Irish have what it takes to compete.

“The difference in regular season teams and state playoff teams is the toughness factor, to play equal or above your opponent, you need to have that grit and toughness that has been built throughout a regular season,” said senior Teige Halligan.

Next up for the Irish they will play against Wesco powerhouses Ferndale high school. The game will be played at Roy Johnson Field in the tri cities on Saturday.

Its now or never for the Irish in the playoffs and the Irish need all the help they need to beat Ferndale and continue their great season.
