The Hometown Hero, Connor Lofy
SEATTLE- Senior soccer star, Connor Lofy, overcomes the loss of his high school season and is now focused on his select season with the club Crossfire Premier and the University of Washington.
With Lofy losing his senior season of soccer many would assume this was due to injury, though Lofy’s club team, Crossfire Premier, has a rule against playing for both our high school team and club team.
“Honestly, it sucked losing my senior season, but I was aware of the rule, and I expected the outcome. I am moving past it and looking forward to my future with Crossfire and Washington now,” says Lofy
With the loss of Lofy the Irish are now without two star seniors who were a part of the Cinderella run that led the underdog Irish to a semifinal appearance before falling short to Lakeside in overtime. The other is Jack Suk who is out for the rest of the season due to a spleen injury he suffered in a game in early April.
Lofy now has full focus on his club who is coming off a select national championship last year.
Lofy stated, “I’m just excited to be back on the field. With high school soccer being taken away it is something that takes my mind off of that and helps me get better day by day.”
Senior Jack Suk, who plays with Connor on both O’Dea and Crossfire stated, “It was a huge loss for our O’Dea team. Not only losing his talent and skill but the senior leadership that got us so far last year.”
Lofy’s ECNL (the highest level) club experience will help him to prepare to take on the University of Washington soccer as it is a high-level program and was the 2021 National Championship runner-up, falling to Clemson 2-1.
“I was beyond happy to stay home. I grew up a Dawg fan and when the opportunity to play for them was presented, it was a no-brainer. I loved the idea of staying home and playing for the coaching staff that helped recruit me,” says Lofy.
