The Irish Continue on a Tee-rific Season as They Beat West Seattle for Their Fifth Straight Win

SEATTLE- The Irish continued their hot streak as they dominated West Seattle High School 141-121 at Jackson Park Golf Course to push their record to 6-1 with their only loss coming in their second match against Bishop Blanchet.

The Irish were led by the stellar performances of senior Brady Foster and sophomore Patrick Mahar who both shot 2 under par (34), the best either has played all season.

“I felt as good as I have all season yesterday. My swing felt good, and I was able to lock in on my short game as well which ultimately helped us win another match,” says Foster.

Along with Foster and Mahar, others stepped up when needed. Junior Carter Gribble performed at a very high level as he shot 1 for an overall of 37 over as well as sophomore Matthew Livingston shooting 4 over for a 41 overall score.

“Our golfers practice every day. Golf is one of those sports where if you don’t actually go out and practice, you won’t get better at the sport. At practice and at matches, each individual teammate is working to improve their own personal game so that the entire team can benefit in the end. Whenever we go out for a match, we don’t play the other team, we play the course and that is how we play at a higher level every match,” says Harrell.

The Irish seem to be catching fire as they have now won five straight matches.

Harrell went on to say, “The team is improving every day no matter how good or bad they shoot. Brady Foster and Paddy Mahar scored under par for the first time this season when they played at Jackson against West Seattle. There is an upward trend of how the team members score at matches so come state playoffs, the team should score very well and meet our goals”

The Irish look to continue on their great season as they face Garfield at West Seattle at 3:30 PM on Friday, October 7th.
