The O'Dea Baseball Community is One of the Strongest Out There

The O'Dea Brotherhood is a strong community and within that community lies strong bonds from playing sports. Baseball is a unique sport that screams community, it brings people together to play a sport that they enjoy playing. Now the O'Dea baseball team is a community that welcomes people and stays with people.

Jeffrey Woods has been around sports for all of his life, learning the ins and outs of sports. He has learned and experienced a lot from all sports

"I played baseball, basketball, and soccer and I learned things from all three sports that helped contribute to how I deal with things like school and how I interact with people. I've learned how to deal with adversity and how to stay disciplined to get something done".

Woods feels that the baseball community is particularly strong and he can tell the difference between the sports he has played.

"I'd say baseball has definitely given me more of a community experience and given me a feeling of truly being on a team. In baseball the team aspect of the game is more evident than most sports, no one player can win a game for a team and learning how to work with people is something that I've gained from the sport".

Jeffrey Woods is a senior and a leader on the O'Dea Baseball team, he was welcomed as a freshman and is now welcoming and instructing the new people on the team about the O'Dea baseball community.

"I've welcomed people by informing them of how things are ran and how to deal with the coaches, umpires and fans. The O'Dea baseball team is different because expectations are higher, when teams face odea they expect a tough game and us as a team have to understand that about every opponent we face."

With every team expecting a good ball game, it begs the question, because of every team expecting a good fight does that make the team closer?

"I’d say yes, we all have a goal as a team and we have more determination with the higher expectations".

Overall the O'Dea baseball team is through and through a very strong community and without being the players that they are, it wouldn’t be as strong of a team as it is now.
