The O'Dea Fighting Irish are one step closer to the State Championships
Seattle- After a strong metro league season, the O'Dea Fighting Irish are cooking the state playoffs at the moment. Building up all this momentum will be key for the Irish during playoffs.
Opening their playoff campaign, the Irish played against the Edmonds Woodway Warriors. The game ended 20-56 to the Irish's favor, with star junior running back Jason Brown Jr. leading the line in that game.
Next in line for the Irish was the Peninsula Seahawks at Memorial Stadium. The game was going to plan until Brown suffered an injury late on in the first half. With Brown out for the rest of the game, junior strong safety Sir Kennan Hart stepped in with two touch downs which inspired the Irish to a 42-28 win.
"The backups stepped up well and they stepped up when we needed it the most," said junior full back Xavier Agasid.
With two straight playoff wins the Irish advance to the state quarter finals with lots of hope.
The next hurtle that the Irish had to face was the Stanwood Spartans. The game was really tight with the game tied 7-7 at the end of the first half. Right when the Irish added a second touchdown the game was going only one way.
After the 42-21 win against the Spartans, the Irish advance to the final 4 in the 3A state tournament.
They will be facing the number 2 seeded Eastside Catholic Crusaders in a mouthwatering match up. These two teams also played back in the regular season where the Crusaders got the better of the Irish.
The Irish is back in the final 4 and are eager to get revenge on the Crusaders.
