The O’Dea Fighting Irish Fight for Greatness
SEATTLE- O’Dea has built their reputation around winning and being united together as a community but not many know what happens off the field or during practice.
O’Dea provides many sports programs and each of them has their own unique success to them. Although each sport has success, they each have a secret recipe.
Students have their own stories and their own reasons but, in the end, they always find their way to be successful. Sports can play many roles in somebody’s which leads them to become more motivated to be great at the sport they play.
“I play sports because it takes away the stress I sometimes feel in my regular life, and playing with friends is also why I play sports,” says Junior Ermias Samson.
Teachers and coaches have been able to mentor the students and create high standards for them so they can reach their full potential on becoming a true student-athlete.
While coaching students to become better athletes the students themselves end up building bonds that will last them their entire high school experience. When building team chemistry players can create a snowball effect that can encourage teammates to work harder.
“What I’ve learned from sports is hard work is more important than talent,” said Samson.
O’Dea has brought together a community that has been passionate about their sports and teachers who want to see their students become successful in the sport they love.
During O’Dea’s state runs it has caught many people’s attention in Seattle and now has given them a unique reputation of becoming a athletic powerhouse and school that has created an environment like no other school.
O’Dea focuses on character, faith, and service, which is displayed on and off the field and is why the school can unite the community in any curriculum they provide.
