The O’Dea Fighting Irish Golf Team Is 1-1 After A Close First Two Matches

SEATTLE- The O’Dea Fighting Irish defeated the Seattle Prep Panthers 130-125 on Wednesday, September 14th at Jefferson Golf Course.

The Fighting Irish were led by junior Carter Gribble who scored 29 points and senior Brady Foster who scored 27 points. The Panthers were led by their #1 golfer Mason Remington who scored 27 points. The next highest score was 23 points made by both Ayden Stack and Eamon Morbacher.

The Fighting Irish top 3 golfers (Brady Foster, Paddy Mahar, and Carter Gribble) were huge contributors, combing for 81 of the 140 points scored (58%). Gribble especially stood out last Wednesday to senior manager Luke Harrell,

Harrell said, “Carter Gribble shot 2 under par for the first match against Prep which was very impressive.”

Clearly, Gribble was an extremely important contributor that’s going to have to play a big role at the top for the Fighting Irish this season.

On Thursday, September 15th just a day after defeating the Seattle Prep Panthers the Fighting Irish lost by a close score of 134-133 to the Bishop Blanchet Bears at West Seattle Golf Course.

The Fighting Irish were led by seniors Brady Foster and Bryce Dunbar who scored 25 points each, sophomore Paddy Mahar stepped up for the Fighting Irish as well scoring 24 points. Max Herendeen and Wayne H.S. led the way for the Bears scoring 25 points each. The match was certainly close with each stroke being extremely important in determining the outcome.

Harrell weighed in on what he saw by saying, “It was certainly a close match throughout with every stroke having an impact on the outcome.”

The Fighting Irish will have to bounce back from this narrow loss Tuesday, September 20th at Jefferson Golf Course against the Lakeside Lions.
