UPCOMING STAR JULIUS SUBER

Julius Suber, a 6’3 Junior playing outside wing for the O’Dea Fighting Irish. He is a hardworking player and started all year for the Irish. His playstyle is better than most, he is fast, physical, and has a positive mentality. He is certainly a player you want on your team because of what he brings to the table.

The Irish soccer team went 3-7 which is not as well as last year, but the team went through a lot of injuries. 8 of the 11 starters either got hurt in the start of the season or had to sit out because of outside soccer team rules. This really made a huge impact in the Irish roster but forced Suber to step up into a leadership role and make the best of his season.

Hopefully, this upcoming year will be better for the Irish. They will be losing a vast number of seniors who contributed greatly to the team. Although, the Irish are in good hands with the rising classes at O’Dea and especially in even better hands with a leader like Suber.

“The team next year will be strong but, in my opinion, not as strong as this year or the previous year.”

There are many life lessons you can learn from having to step up into a leadership role such as, teamwork, letting go of mistakes, and being humble win or lose. Throughout his time playing for O’Dea, he noticed that every game they absolutely dominated in, and the whole team had forgotten about plainly playing for themselves. With teamwork they were able to utilize all 11 players on the field to become 1 and that’s when they dominated opposing teams. Letting go of mistakes in soccer is very important.

“You can’t get held up on the past just as this is true in real life. You must always win and lose with dignity.”

Suber hopes to make it to the next level, he has the talents and skills to play at the next highest level. His dream is to play soccer at UCLA, and be able to live out his dreams and play the sport he loves. His brother plays Division 1 soccer at Rider University, but Julius hopes to make a name for himself.
