Winning Ugly is Always Better Than Losing Pretty, Irish Take Down West Seattle 68-51
Updated: Dec 12, 2022
SEATTLE – If you ask any team at the end of the year, they’ll say the only stat that matters is how many wins are in the “W” column of their record. When the Irish go and reflect on the season later down the road in March, this would be one of those games where they say, “a win is a win”.
Tuesday night in West Seattle, the Irish got off to a blazing start to the game, going 5/7 from the field and starting on a 13-0 run, only 2 minutes into the game. At this point, a lot of people could feel as if the Irish were going to run away with this one and it would be a massive blowout. But that wasn’t the case.
The Irish ended the game with an astounding 25 turnovers, while West Seattle had only 15. With a turnover margin of -10 in most games, most people can pretty much expect to lose because that amount is extremely difficult to overcome. But the Irish were different, despite the turnover margin the Irish still won by almost 20 points. This kind of result speaks volumes of how talented they are and how good they can be if the turnovers get cleaned up.
Among the O’Dea roster, senior Mason Williams led the scoring with 25 points, a season high so far in the year. Following up Williams was junior Noel Davis who had 9 points (all off of three-pointers) and senior Miles Clark who had 7. For the Wildcats, senior Maximus Holliman led the scoring with 24 points. He was dominant on the court with the whole West Seattle offense essentially revolving around him.
The Irish go on the road to Roosevelt to take on the Roughriders this Friday at Roosevelt High School.
