2022 3A Metro Championship Boys Cross-Country, Irish Finish 11th

SEATTLE- Last Friday the Irish competed alongside 13 other schools for the top spot in the 3A Metro League Championship. Here is a quick summary for the top 5 teams.

Seattle Prep: Prep's outing last Friday was nothing less than outstanding with Liam Riley, Jack Henzke, and Nicolas Davila placing 3rd, 4th, and 5th overall. All of Prep's runners placed in the top 20 with their slowest time only placing 19th.

Bishop Blanchet: Blanchet no doubt had better times than Prep, but placement does come into play more often than not. Sophomore Vincent Recupero put an impressive time up with a 15:52:70, securing 1st place by a time differential of 13 seconds lower than second place finisher Kamil Zeribi.

Lincoln: From 3rd place on, the point differential is not so much the same as the top 2. Lincoln's top runner, Zac Wise, placed 21st, while other Lincoln runners scattered placement in the top 45 range. Like most teams in last Friday's race, they placed well enough to qualify for districts.

Garfield: Garfield had 2 runners place in the top 25, one of them being previously mentioned, junior Kamil Zeribi, and the other being junior, Colten Ladd. Garfield had a wide range of times spreading across the top 5 spot to the bottom 20, but were only two points shy of Lincoln, making them pretty even competitors.

West Seattle: West Seattle's runners mostly placed in the top 25-55 category, with senior Elliot Allen leading the pack placing 15th. West Seattle kept up well with Garfield only scoring 2 more than them and kept up well with all of their runners in the top 55. Senior, Elliot Allen, lead the pack with a time of 17:04:20, placing 15th.

Nathan Hale - 6th

Lakeside - 10th

O'Dea - 11th

Even though the Irish as a team didn't make districts, juniors Seku Sanders and Simon Olech are representing O'Dea as individual qualifiers. This gives them chances to make a name for themselves and give their best effort to win districts and on to state.
