O'Dea Cross-Country Season Overview
Updated: Oct 22, 2022
SEATTLE- As the season began in August, the O'Dea cross country team didn't know what to expect. Many of their top runners had graduated and many of the ones they would count on this year were untested.
Despite the uncertainty, many of the question marks have been answered this season and the team is in a position to make districts in the coming days.
On Friday October 21,2022 at 10:oo am, the cross country team will be participating in the Metro League Championships at Lower Woodland against Metro League opponents.
The team had many great performers during the regular season.
Each runner has played a significant part in the team's success during the season. With the postseason just around the corner, these are the ones to look at for.
During the postseason playoffs the top 7 of the 16 teams will make districts. It's sounds like a big ask but the team has enough talented runners to make the top 7.
"The team is locked in and ready for Metros," said Gauyan. " Everybody on the team is going all in to get into the top 7, and for some of the runners it could be their last race, so they want to give it their all and leave a mark."
Adding extra motivation to the team, head coach David Bazzi was just inducted to the O'Dea Wall of Honor as part of the '95 track team. He was also inducted individually back in 2016. That is the definition of greatness. Having a coach who has reached success as an athlete and a coach should only help the team on their quest to continue the season.
With Metro playoffs around the corner, Gauyan and the team will be fighting until the end to get in the top 7.
