Brotherhood and Sports at O'Dea

SEATTLE- Sports have helped O'Dea High School to become one of the most well known schools in the state of Washington. Theirs sports teams have been some of the best in the State. The deeper thought to the sports programs at O'Dea is that the sports offer a more meaningful brotherhood. O'Dea has been known for their brotherhood and friendships and the sports programs help advance these friendships.

The O'Dea golf team is one of the most successful and respected programs in the state. The team has shown that their program works with individual state title, state championships, and metro championship titles, and individual metro championship titles. These championships never seem to make the team stray away from what is the most important and that is the brotherhood.

"The golf brotherhood was committed to making each other better. We wanted everyone to make strides in their game while also focusing on the improvements that we needed to make ourselves," says senior golfer Roman Antolin.

Antolin is a two sport athlete who plays golf and soccer. Antolin has been playing golf ever since he was young. He says that, "O'Dea golf has impacted my life very positively. I've been playing golf since a young age and to get the chance to play golf competitively in high school is something I'll always be grateful for. I’m also grateful that this team was very welcoming and accepting of whoever played, regardless of personality and skill level."

O'Dea can seem like a very intimidating school being that they have some of the best sports teams in the state, but they do a great job at welcoming and making sure that the student athletes feel comfortable at school and at their sport.

"It gave me confidence to be myself and to play at a level that could help the team win," says Antolin.

O'Dea has given athletes a place to thrive. To be able to make friends, be welcomed into a community, have fun at the sport they want to and to be able to succeed and thrive at their sport.

"Overall, I’m glad that the golf brotherhood was committed to having fun, staying competitive, and accepting," says Antolin.

O'Dea has the perfect recipe for students to thrive at their sport. They are committed to helping students feel comfortable around others and comfortable while playing their sport. This in return has shown great success for the Fighting Irish.
