Jude Santistevan's take away on a sport he didn't expect to do.

SEATTLE-Senior wrestler Jude Santistevan started wrestling career his freshman year and is now on his final year of wrestling. As this is Santistevans last year, he takes away valuable life lessons from his wrestling career. "The sport of wrestling has taught me that there will be some things that you wont enjoy, but that you have to accept it but you have to pull through. For example, when you don’t want to go to tournaments or early morning practices, you have to go considering that going to those early morning tournaments and early morning practices means that much more to the coaches and to yourself." says Santistevan. In his freshman year Santistevan wanted to play football for the Irish. When he realized that his talents could be used on teams he decided to look around. He eventually came to wrestling and he decided that he could see him succeeding more in Irish wrestling than in Irish football. When he joined the team his freshman year, his first few practices in freshman year were rough but he learned to accept the challenge and push through the aches and pains. As he grew as a wrestler he had noticed a valuble lesson that wrestling had indirectly taught him. "The most important thing the sport has taught me is to discipline yourself, because if you want to succeed, you have to limit yourself to the distractions and temptations that surround you. For example, fast food, deserts, soda and juice were never more tempting than they were when I was cutting for my weight class." says Santistevan He was not expecting to take away such a life lesson from the sport that he joined on a whim during his freshman year. He was doing the sport to please his parents and he was not expecting that he would fall in love with the sport of wrestling. As a senior Santistevan appreciates the lessons that wrestling had taught him. When he looks back on the tournaments and practices he attended, he can only remember the good parts. He will never forget the sport that challenged him and taught him valuable lessons.
