Updated: Mar 23, 2022
The Fighting Irish Track and Field team is looking at a strong run this season for the State championship. With some of the fastest runners in the nation like Tyrone Taylor and Dawit Mulat-Davis, it looks like they will be making a strong run in the offseason. They will have to go through many strong teams like Rainier Beach, who has a strong sprinting team and Bishop Blanchet, who have a strong distance and pole vault team. Max Valladares, a senior distance runner, is very confident in this years track team. "Me personally feeling okay, team is looking good. We have a strong senior class, with a lot of up coming runners and throwers so its looking good." The team has an ability to fill most of the events with strong competitors. These spots are filled by veteran runners who will be able to take the team to the next level. "100, 200, 400 team is strong. Me personally running distance, that part of the team is super strong. Sprints obviously have the two headed monster of Dawit and Tyrone," said Valladares. The railroad track that the track team is on is looking like the destination is Tahoma for state. The team has all of the right ingredients for a state title, now they just have to put them all in the bowl and eat this season.
